Buzzing into Halloween Fun with Spellbinders Buzzy Pup-Bee
A sweet and spooky card featuring the Spellbinders Buzzy Pup-Bee Die Set

Creating a Buzz-Worthy Halloween Card

Today’s project features the new Buzzy Pup-Bee Die Set—one of three adorable Halloween pups from Spellbinders. The other two, Pupkin and Woof-or-Treat, are equally charming, but today’s spotlight is all about the bee! To add a little extra Halloween flair, I paired it with the Boo Crew Die Set by Simon Hurley, which launched last year and is still available (and currently on sale!) on the Spellbinders website.

Building the Card Base

I began with a piece of Raven Cardstock cut to 4.25″ x 5.5″. Next, I trimmed Oceanside Cardstock to 4″ x 5.25″ and ink-blended around the edges using Rainforest Ink by Concord & 9th, leaving the center untouched. This subtle gradient draws the eye inward and adds depth to the design.

Once the ink dried, I added white splatter using the Gina K White Splatter medium from Christmas Box 2025. I love how some of the darker ink bleeds through, creating a dreamy, distant star effect. My usual go-to is Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bleed Proof White—a small jar that lasts for years and is well worth the investment!

Set this panel aside to dry while you work on the fun parts—the characters!

Assembling the Buzzy Pup-Bee

For the pup, I used Colorwheel Cardstock in Raven, Carrot, Acorn, Fawn, and Beeswax. The wings were cut from vellum, and the inner ears from a pink scrap left over from a previous project. I brushed the wings with a Clear Shimmer Glitter Brush Marker from Scrapbook.com for a soft sparkle.

Follow the Buzzy Pup-Bee Assembly Guide for easy layering—each piece fits together perfectly for that dimensional, playful look.

Creating the Boo Crew Ghost

Using the Boo Crew Die Set, I cut and assembled all three ghosts from Classic White, Raven, and Carrot Cardstock. The cheeks were colored with an OLO Marker, though the set includes dies for them too. Before assembling, I lightly ink-blended the back layer with a grey-tinted brush to add subtle depth. (I only used one of the three assembled Ghosts on this project)

The sentiment “boo to you” was cut from Raven cardstock with a silver glitter shadow layer—simple but striking!

Final Assembly

Once all pieces were ready, I layered the Oceanside star-speckled panel onto the Raven base and adhered it to an A2 card. I added a white panel inside for writing.

Using 1mm foam squares, I popped up the Buzzy Pup-Bee, the ghost, and the sentiment for dimension. Everything came together beautifully—fun, festive, and full of personality!

A Perfect Halloween Pairing

I love how this card turned out! Even though the Buzzy Pup-Bee and Boo Crew sets weren’t designed to coordinate, they work together seamlessly. If you don’t have the Boo Crew set yet, it’s a great addition to your Halloween crafting lineup—especially alongside these adorable pups!

What do you think?

Would you pair Buzzy Pup-Bee with another Halloween set or keep it solo for a sweet seasonal card?
