Today’s project features the beautiful Menorah Lights Set from Spellbinders. This set is absolutely stunning — it includes both the die set and two sentiments, and it’s so easy to work with!

For this card, I chose a classic color combination of Dark Blues, Gold, and White. It feels elegant and festive, perfect for celebrating Hanukkah or any occasion that calls for light and warmth.

Creating the Background

Let’s start with the blue background panel since it needs a little time to dry.

Using Cosmic Sky Colorwheel Cardstock from Spellbinders, I cut it to 4” x 5.25” and splattered it with Yasutomo Pale Gold Japanese Watercolor. The subtle shimmer adds a magical starry-night effect. Set this aside to dry while you prepare the other elements.

Building the Menorah

Next, I cut a piece of Mirror Gold Spellbinders Cardstock slightly larger than the blue panel to create a delicate gold outline when layered on the card base. From the center of this gold piece, I die-cut the Menorah — this trick helps conserve cardstock while adding a beautiful focal point.

The candles were cut from Cosmic Sky, and the flames from Classic White. For the flames, I removed them from the die and colored them using Olo Marker Y 1.4 for the base and blended O 1.3 toward the bottom for a soft glow.

Here’s a little alignment trick: once all the pieces are cut, set them back into the die and pick them up with Press n’ Seal. This keeps everything perfectly aligned while you glue them down.

Assembly and Finishing Touches

The Menorah base was cut from Classic White. I added liquid adhesive to the back of the Menorah pieces and secured them together. Let them dry for a few minutes before gently removing the Press n’ Seal.

While the Menorah dried, I embossed the sentiment onto the now-dry Cosmic Sky panel using Embossing Ink and Gilded Sparkle Embossing Powder from Brutus Monroe.

Once all the pieces were ready, I layered the panels onto an A2 card base, centering them carefully. The Menorah was attached with foam tape for a touch of dimension.

A Moment of Reflection

I love how this project turned out — the gold shimmer against the deep blue feels timeless and full of meaning.
