A Quick and Easy Ink Blended Card Featuring the Altenew September 2026 Release

Hello again! Today I am sharing a quick and easy card using the brand new Twin Leaves Spray from the Altenew September 2026 release. This card came together so quickly, and I am really loving how the blues turned out. If you are looking for a simple technique that still makes a big impact, this project is for you.

Starting with a Splattered Background

Since I knew I wanted a splatter effect on my background, that is exactly where I started. I used a piece of Altenew Dessert Night cardstock cut to 4.25 inches by 5.5 inches. I splattered this using Dr. Ph. Martin’s Bleed Proof White and a number 6 round brush. Once I finished splattering, I set the panel aside to dry while I worked on the rest of the card.

Tip: Letting your splattered background dry completely before handling it helps prevent smudging later in the process.

Creating the Ink Blended Leaves

For the leaves, I cut them twice from white cardstock and once from vellum. The two white sets were ink-blended with Galactic Stream ink. For one set, I ink-blended the entire leaf, and for the second set, I only blended the edges. I then adhered these two pieces together, placing the partially blended layer on the bottom.

Tip: Partially blending the second layer helps get rid of the white edges that would otherwise show if the leaf was left unblended, giving the finished leaves a much more polished look.

Once the two white layers were stacked together, I added the vellum set behind them, slightly offset, to add a bit of dimension and softness to the design.

Adding the Sentiment

For the sentiment, I used “For a Friend Who Is Nothing but Sweet” from the Afternoon Spread Craft Your Life Kit. I stamped it using the same Galactic Stream ink I used to blend the leaves, then used the coordinating die to cut it out. I also cut an additional white layer and stacked it behind the sentiment for extra stability.

Putting the Layout Together

For the final layout, I chose to have the leaves stretching out from behind the sentiment, which I felt gave the design a nice sense of movement. Once I settled on a layout I loved, I adhered everything down and added the panel to an A2 size card base.
