Creating a sweet and playful belated birthday card using the Nuts About You set from the House-Mouse Party Parade Collection

Over the next four days I am sharing a few quick card ideas featuring the brand-new House-Mouse Party Parade Collection. This collection is absolutely adorable, and I truly loved creating every single card.

The charming characters, playful scenes, and fun sentiments make it perfect for creating cards that are full of personality.

For all four of my cards in this mini series, I stamped the images and sentiments using black alcohol marker friendly ink. My go-to ink for this is Memento Ink, and my alcohol marker brand of choice is Olo Markers.

Today’s card features a sweet belated birthday design using the Nuts About You House-Mouse set, and I have to say — I always appreciate when companies include a belated birthday sentiment in a stamp set. Let’s be honest… most of us probably miss at least one birthday every year.

Stamping the Image

I began by stamping both the image and sentiment onto Classic White Cardstock using black alcohol-friendly ink.

The illustration in this set is just too cute — a mischievous little mouse with a playful personality that perfectly matches the sentiment.

Coloring with Olo Markers

To bring the image to life, I colored it using the following Olo Marker colors:

• RV 0.1
• CG 1
• O 7.7
• O 7.3
• O 7.1
• O 4.1
• O 4.3

These warm brown tones work beautifully for coloring the mouse and acorn elements, while the softer colors help add subtle shading and depth.

Creating the Card Panels

Once the coloring was complete, I trimmed the main image using the Perfect Touch Rectangles and Tag set.

For the sentiment, I trimmed a strip approximately ½ inch wide to keep it clean and simple.

Both the image panel and sentiment strip were backed with Poppy Cardstock, cut slightly larger than each element to create a bold mat layer. The pop of red adds a nice bit of contrast and helps draw attention to the focal point of the card.

Adding Texture with Embossing

To add texture to the background, I embossed another piece of Classic White Cardstock using the Plaster Embossing Folder.

This embossed panel was trimmed to 5.5” x 4.25”, creating a full A2 card front.

The subtle texture from the embossing folder adds dimension without distracting from the stamped image.

Putting It All Together

To assemble the card:

• The embossed panel was adhered to an A2 card base.
• The image panel was adhered with foam tape near the top portion of the card front.
• The sentiment strip was placed just underneath the image, also using foam tape

Positioning the mouse image slightly higher on the card gives the design a playful balance while allowing the sentiment to stand out clearly.

A Fun Belated Birthday Card

This card makes me smile every time I look at it.

The sentiment “Nuts… I missed your birthday!” is such a fun and lighthearted way to acknowledge a late birthday greeting. Because honestly… I miss birthdays all the time too.

Sometimes the best cards are the ones that simply embrace those little real-life moments.
