Pink and Main Day 16 Advent Card Featuring Floral Dies and Soft Spring Colors
One of my favorite things about the Pink and Main Advent Calendar is how thoughtfully everything works together. Each new surprise builds on the days before it, making it easy to mix, match, and revisit earlier elements in fresh ways. Today’s project is a perfect example of that.
For Pink and Main Advent Day 16, I created a spring-inspired Floral Thinking of You card that pulls pieces from several previous days in the calendar. This design feels bright, cheerful, and versatile—perfect for sending encouragement, letting someone know they’re on your heart, or even as a gentle Easter greeting.

Day 16 Advent Surprise: Coordinating Floral Dies
The Day 16 surprise included individual dies for the previous three floral stamps we received in the advent. Having coordinating dies instantly opens up new design possibilities and makes layering and assembly so much easier.
With three options to choose from, I selected my favorite flower from the set—the Lily stamp from Day 14—and paired it with the “Thinking of You” sentiment from Day 10.
Stamping and Heat Embossing
I began by stamping both the lily image and the sentiment in black ink. I then heat embossed them with clear embossing powder.
This step is completely optional, but it’s something I personally prefer. The clear embossing adds a subtle raised edge that provides extra protection against smearing when using alcohol markers. If you’re using an alcohol marker–safe ink, you can absolutely skip this step if you’d like.
Coloring the Lily with Mixed Marker Brands
When coloring, don’t be afraid to mix and match marker brands to achieve the look you want. I regularly use colors from different manufacturers on the same image, and they work beautifully together.
For this lily:
- Flower petals: Olo Markers RV 0.1 and RV 0.2
- Stems and leaves: Altenew Markers G801, G713, G743, and G735
These green tones all come from the Altenew Firewood Garden Set, which is designed so the colors blend seamlessly together.
Die Cutting and Card Base Assembly
Once the coloring was complete, I used the Day 16 coordinating die to cut out the lily image.
From there, it was time to assemble the card base:
- White cardstock base trimmed to 4.25 x 5.5 inches
- Yellow cardstock layer trimmed to 4 x 5.25 inches
- Patterned paper from Day 1, trimmed to 3.75 x 5 inches
All three layers were adhered together to create a bright, spring-ready background for the floral focal point.
Sentiment Strip and Layering Details
Before final assembly, I trimmed the sentiment strip to ½ inch wide by 4 inches long, allowing it to stretch all the way to the edge of the yellow panel.
Using the same yellow cardstock from the background, I created a slightly wider backing strip at the same length to help the sentiment stand out while keeping the color palette cohesive.
Final Assembly and Finishing Touches
To ground the floral image, I added one of the Spotlight elements from day three behind the lily and adhered it slightly above center.
I wanted the lily stems to tuck neatly behind the sentiment, so I placed thin foam tape only on the two ends of the sentiment strip, leaving the center open. This allowed the stem to slide underneath while still giving the sentiment dimension.
To finish the card, I secured the sentiment and adhered the entire panel to an A2 card base.
Final Thoughts
I absolutely love how this card turned out. The spring colors feel fresh and joyful, and the design is incredibly versatile. While it works beautifully as a traditional thinking of you card, it would also be perfect to send at Easter to someone you may not be able to spend the day with—just to let them know they’re being thought of.
