Craftoween 2025 – Day Two Project: Raven & Skulls at Sunset

It is Day Two in the 13 Days of Craftoween series, and I wanted today’s project to feel very seasonal—closer to Halloween vibes.

The envelope revealed a striking raven and skull, and immediately I pictured a dramatic seaside scene at sunset. I began by masking off the horizon line to stamp the waves with the Color Layering Waves set from Hero Arts, using Concord & 9th inks in Harbor, Blueberry, and Midnight. Once the ocean was in place, I masked it off and blended the sky with C9 Eggplant and Gina K’s Sunkissed Coral and Tangerine Twist—a favorite combo for a warm, glowing sunset.

For the sandy shoreline, I softly blended Gina K Sandy Beach and Warm Cocoa, being careful not to overpower the waves. The raven itself was cut twice, once from black and once from pearlized black for contrast. I gave the skulls an aged look by brushing leftover brown ink from my blending brush over them. One skull didn’t feel like enough, so I pulled in additional skulls from the Boo! Cocktails set by Spellbinders for a scattered effect.

To finish, I added a sentiment from the Craftoween stamp set, softly blending purple ink over the white strip so it would feel part of the scene. The result is a moody shoreline tableau—spooky but atmospheric.
