OMG: I Missed Your Birthday Card

OMG: I Missed Your Birthday Card

A Quick and Simple Handmade Card Using the Spellbinders Aged to Perfection Collection

Sometimes the best card ideas come from real life moments. And if we are being honest, we have all had that moment when we suddenly realize we missed someone’s birthday.

Maybe you saw it on social media a day late, maybe you noticed it on your calendar after the fact, or maybe it came up in conversation and your heart sank a little. That is exactly what inspired today’s card.

I needed a quick card for an “oops I missed it” moment, and the Spellbinders Aged to Perfection Collection had the perfect die for the job.

Creating the OMG Focal Point

For this OMG I Missed Your Birthday card, I used the OMG die from the Spellbinders Aged to Perfection Collection along with a sentiment from the Birthday Celebrations Bundle. (As of March 13, 2026 the Birthday Celebrations Bundle is on sale for half off, which makes it a fantastic deal if you love having lots of birthday sentiments on hand.)

To create the focal point, I cut the OMG directly from a piece of patterned paper. Instead of using the letters themselves, I pieced them back into the panel while leaving the letter outlines as white space.

This creates a fun inset look that really makes the letters stand out.

Once everything was lined up, I added foam tape to the back of the panel and placed it right back into the same spot it was cut from so the pattern stayed aligned.

Adding the Sentiment

The sentiment was stamped on white cardstock using one of the greetings from the Birthday Celebrations Bundle.

To tie everything together, I cut a backing layer for the sentiment out of the same patterned paper used for the background. Just like the OMG panel, I added foam tape to lift the sentiment and give the card a little extra dimension.

It is a simple detail, but that bit of dimension really helps the sentiment stand out.

A Quick and Simple Card Design

And that was it.

This card came together quickly and easily, which was perfect for the situation. Honestly, the hardest part was lining up the patterned paper so everything matched back up after die cutting.

But once it was in place, the effect was totally worth it.

This is a great reminder that sometimes simple card designs are exactly what we need.

Why the OMG Die is So Versatile

One of the things I love most about this OMG die is how versatile it is.

While it worked perfectly for an “OMG I missed your birthday” card, there are so many other ways you could use it. Just imagine pairing it with sentiments like:

OMG you did it
OMG you’re the best
OMG thank you
OMG congratulations

It would work beautifully for celebrations, encouragement cards, thank you notes, and so many other occasions.

This is definitely one of those dies that can be used again and again in different ways.

What kinds of projects would you create with the OMG die? Would you use it for birthdays, congratulations cards, or something completely different? Let me know in the comments below.
