Wicked Bubbly – A Halloween Card with a Twist!

I just had to squeeze in one more Halloween card for this year!

For this one, I decided to think outside the box and repurpose a die set that wasn’t originally intended for Halloween. I love when we can stretch our supplies and get more use out of what we already have—rather than letting them collect dust on a shelf!

So, what did I use?

I grabbed the Pop the Bubbly die set by Kat Scrappiness and turned it into a spooky Halloween potion bottle! Then to set the theme a little more, I paired it with three more fun product options:

  • Creepy Crawly Craft Die
  • Spiderweb Background Die
  • Halloween Lantern Add-On Stamps

All from Kat Scrappiness!

This card included mostly die cutting with minimal stamping, so after deciding on a layout, it came together pretty quickly.

Card Details

For the background, I cut the spiderweb out of vellum using the Spiderweb Background Die. Since adhesive can show through vellum, I used tape only around the outer edges and then covered that area with a frame made from black pearlized cardstock.

Then it was time to create the bottle!
I found an old silver doily in my scrap box and it worked perfectly as the foil topper—just like champagne bottles! For the bottle itself, I used a leftover green-and-white patterned paper that looked like bubbles. The label was cut from another scrap of green cardstock and stamped with a Halloween sentiment from the Halloween Lantern Add-On Stamp Set.

Spooky Details

The bottle needed just a bit more. And then… spiders!

The stamp set includes spiders, but they hang from a web. So I masked off the web using a sticky note before inking. Don’t forget to remove the sticky note before stamping—or you’ll have a spooky blob of ink instead!

To give the web a resident creepy crawler, I die cut a spider from the Creepy Crawly die set using black pearlized paper and simply trimmed the web off. Then I added a tiny piece of red cardstock behind the eyes and topped them with Glossy Accents for extra creep factor.

Center and pop up the wicked bubbly, add a few gems I had laying around.

And with that—my Wicked Bubbly card was complete!
Cute and fun with a hint of spookiness.
