Sometimes, in the rush of excitement over new supplies, we forget to appreciate the gems already in our stash. Today, I challenged myself to revisit some older favorites from Kat Scrappiness—and the result was a sweet and simple friendship card that can easily be adapted for any occasion.

A Fresh Take on Sunflowers
I started with the Sunflower Duo Craft Dies, but instead of creating traditional sunflowers, I reimagined them in soft pink and white. I die-cut four sets of petals and layered them two by two, slightly offset, to give each flower more depth.
To color the petals, I did some soft ink blending using Sweet Pea Ink from Concord and 9th, covering about ¾ of each petal from the center outward. To deepen the center and create a subtle gradient, I added Dragonfruit Ink, blending it halfway up the petal. The result? A beautiful ombré that fades to white at the tips—delicate and elegant.
Textured Flower Centers with a Twist
The die set includes textured flower centers, which I cut from yellow cardstock. They looked a little large for the reimagined design, so I used a small circle die from my stash to trim them down. To give the yellow centers more depth, I ink-blended them with Pimento Ink—a vibrant mix of red and orange that brought just the right warmth to the flowers.
Dimension in the Details
For the foliage, I used both full stems with leaves and a few extra individual leaves (which I ended up saving for a future project). I inked the greenery with Grasshopper Ink to add dimension. In the final arrangement, I used one full stem and a partial second to balance the layout.
Even after assembling the flowers and stems, the card still needed a little something extra. Enter the Layered Camouflage Stencils—another hidden treasure from my Kat Snappiness stash. Instead of inking, I used one of the layers to dry emboss a soft blue background panel. It was the perfect touch to give the background subtle texture without adding bulk.
A Sentiment That Blooms
Digging even deeper into my collection, I found the Quokka Flowers Stamp and Die Set, which has so many wonderful sentiments. I chose:
“Friends Are Flowers That Never Fade”—a perfect fit for the floral theme.
Since I plan to mail this card, I kept things relatively flat. I added dimension through layering, ink blending, and dry embossing, rather than foam tape. But if you love a more dimensional look, popping up one of the flowers or the sentiment would be an easy way to add that extra “wow” factor.
Final Thoughts
This card was such a joy to create! It’s always fun to stretch your creativity by revisiting older supplies and using them in new ways. Changing the sentiment makes this design incredibly versatile—think birthday, thank you, thinking of you, and more.
