Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and if you’re looking for a unique and personal way to show your love, nothing beats a handmade card! In this post, I’ll guide you through creating a beautiful “Floating Hearts” Valentine’s Day card that’s sure to impress your special someone. Whether you’re new to crafting or an experienced card maker, this project is simple and fun to make!

How to Create the Floating Hearts Card

To start, I used a smaller heart die to cut out lots of tiny hearts. Then, I arranged them upside down, placing them close together on a piece of 4″ wide mint tape. The placement is key here—ensure there are enough small hearts to fill a larger heart die. Once you’re happy with the layout, take the larger heart die and cut it out from the tiny hearts you’ve already arranged.

Since the hearts are upside down on the mint tape, this technique allows you to add foam tape to the back of the heart pieces, giving the illusion that the hearts are “floating.” After applying the foam tape, remove the backers and carefully position your floating hearts on the card where you want them. Once they’re in place, gently remove the mint tape from the back, and voila! You’ve created a stunning floating heart effect.

This technique can easily be adapted to other shapes or smaller images, too! For example, I used the same technique with butterflies in another card (which you can check out here).
